Fire Prevention Week 2017 is just around the corner, beginning on Sunday, October 8 and running through Saturday, October 14.
Sponsored by the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Fire Prevention Week is the longest running public health observance according to the National Archives and Records Administration’s Library Information Center.
While this annual event is designed to prompt consumers/end users to check and test their home smoke detectors, it also serves as a good reminder for fire and safety professionals to take inventory of their smoke and carbon monoxide detector testing equipment.
Make sure you’re ready and stocked for testing all year by:
- Purchasing Environmentally-Friendly Testing Products
With the EPA’s Significant New Alternatives Policy (SNAP) program – specifically EPA Rule 20 – taking effect on December 31, 2017, aerosol and smoke detector sprays with various hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs) and HFC-containing blends will now be unacceptable for certain uses.HSI Fire & Safety has been committed to safety for over 30 years and specifically developed PurCheck® and SmokeCheck® to be environmentally-friendly with no HFCs. Both of these products are completely compliant with the new EPA regulations as well as US and global fire alarm codes and standards.
- Choosing Economical Testing Aerosols and Sprays
Maximize the number of tests performed. Use a smoke detector tester spray or aerosol that includes hundreds of tests per can to ensure all devices’ circuitry, alarm and power are functioning properly. Each can of SmokeCheck® and PurCheck® performs hundreds of tests – two to three times more than other smoke detector testing products in the market – making smoke detector testing with these products more cost-efficient.
- Finding a Fast Supplier
Avoid long lead times or lengthy shipping times by finding a supplier who ships out orders same-day.So even if you take inventory now and discover your smoke or carbon monoxide detector testing equipment supplies are running low, with a company like HSI who has ample inventory in stock to ship immediately, you’ll be ready year-round to complete inspections where you have jurisdiction to test.
